I remember watching Jane Fonda movies in the 70s. She was “hot” and very sexy. Even though she was a bombshell in her younger years, she became an activist for things that matter, and this is ultimately what I love about her. Check out that outfit in the middle. Very status quo for those times.
Charlie’s Angels debuted in 1976 and ran until 1981. It was one of my favorite shows. I remember watching Kate Jackson in The Rookies, so when I heard she was on Charlie’s Angels, I was excited. Charlie’s Angels centered around three very attractive private detectives (Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith) who worked for Charlie, a boss who they never met, but only contacted them by phone. The episodes were fun and enjoyable and the girls were dressed in the height of fashion whether it be bikinis, bell bottoms, jumpsuits or whatever. Some said the show exploited women because the actresses were beautiful, wore sexy clothes and were pretty feisty … but I loved it, and so did millions of others. Could be I was just too young at the time to understand what female exploitation was, but who knows? I can tell you today, I can still sit down and watch this show and enjoy every episode.
